Payments
All payments must be received every Monday morning in the form of cash, check or debit/credit card (MasterCard or Visa only). You will run the risk of your childcare spot being filled by another child if payment is not paid on time. Full fees are required regardless of whether or not your child attends unless a two-week termination letter has been provided. I realize the financial burden that childcare places on parents, and hope parents understand that as business, childcare providers have financial responsibilities as well. Payments are due before care is received. First payment is due upon arrival of child’s first day. Payments thereafter are due each Monday by close of business (5:00pm) for the following weeks care. Remember it is your responsibility to pay your provider on time. If your child is sick, you’re on vacation, the daycare is closed or a holiday falls on the Friday payment is due, then you need to make arrangements to pay in advance. Checks will NOT be cashed until the Friday payment is due (date the check for day the payment is due). A $25.00 fee will be assessed for any returned checks and all future payments must be paid in cash.
Failure to pay will result in immediate loss of childcare.
Late Payment Fees
Failure to pay your childcare fees on time will result in a $10.00 late fee per day starting on Monday. All late fees will start being assessed at 5:30pm. All childcare fees and late payments must be made by Friday or childcare will NOT be provided until payment is complete.
Vacations
When a parent takes a vacation, we ask that you give a 2-week notice prior to your
vacation. Parents are allowed 1 (one) week vacation per year at half rate. All other vacations during the same year will require the full rate to maintain you spot in daycare.
Your fee is due prior to your vacation. Our daycare usually takes 1-2 weeks vacation per year sometimes it does not close at all. But if a vacation is taken, you will be given a 2-4 week notice. You will not be charged during the time that Paradise Falls is closed for vacation.
Closures

NEW YEARS EVE* NEW YEARS DAY* MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY* PRESIDENTS DAY* MEMORIAL DAY*INDEPENDENCE DAY (4TH OF JULY) LABOR DAY* COLUMBUS DAY* VETERANS DAY* THANKSGIVING WEEKEND (THURSDAY AND FRIDAY) CHRISTMAS EVE* CHRISTMAS DAY
All Holidays will be posted one week prior to the day(s) closed as a parent reminder. Daycare may be required to close due to unexpected circumstances and all affected parents will be notified promptly.
Back up Care
Parents are required to have back up care for their child in the event that no substitute providers are available. If Paradise Falls is unable to open due to an illness of the teacher or her family, family emergency, closures, ect. you will be notified as soon as possible so you can make necessary arrangements.
Arrivals and Departures
Please DO NOT allow your child to walk to the door alone at drop off. This gives both you and the teacher the opportunity to discuss any schedule changes for the day.
Breakfast is served promptly at 8:00 AM, if your child arrives after breakfast then he/she will not be served.
At pick up, please DO NOT let your child leave the house until you are leaving also. It helps your child tremendously if your child is aware that you will be arriving early (or late) in that they come to expect regularity and thrive on it. Children put their coats and shoes on in preparation for your arrival time. Please keep your teacher informed so she can in turn keep the child informed. Drop-off and pick-up times are not good times to discuss serious problems. Little ears and minds hear and understand everything.
Your teacher is not comfortable discussing a child in the presence of anyone, but his or her parents. Topics that concern day-to-day events or light-hearted discussions are welcome.
Pick up
If you wish for anyone other than you or your spouse to pick up your child I must be notified. The person must be listed and will be required to show ID to pick up your child. No one under the age of 14 is allowed to pick up a child in our care. If you think you will be more than 10 minutes later than your contracted pick-up time provider must be notified by phone; however a fee may be occurred depending on the situation/excessive occurrences at the provider’s discretion.
Late Pick up Fees
Late pick up fees are $5.00 for every 5 minutes late. All late fees must be paid to Paradise Falls by close of business Monday. If late fees are not paid by Monday morning at drop off, care will not be provided until fees are paid.
Meals
Paradise Falls is currently enrolled in the CACFP Food Program. It is required that your teacher serves a variety of nutritious, well-balanced meals that will appeal to your child’s appetite. If your child has a food allergy please provide a note from your doctor with an appropriate substitute food. Infants are fed on demand. Weekly menus are posted on refrigerator. Please do not allow your child to bring outside food into the daycare including: gum, candy, drinks or snacks.
Cleanliness/Hygiene
We do our best to maintain strict cleanliness and hygiene standards. Children's hands are washed before and after meals, coming in from outside and after toileting. If these skills are stressed at home also your child may remain a good hand-washer when he/she gets older. Please have your child bathed and dressed for play. A clean child is a healthy child.
Beginning at toddler age washable nap mats or couches are used. Each child has a separate nap mat with blankets. These are washed weekly (unless soiled, then they are washed as often as necessary). Toys are sanitized with a bleach solution
Child Necessities
Please have your child dress appropriately for play and the weather. Also send at least one change of clothing (underwear) in case of an accident (two if potty training). You may send a blanket, pillow and if desired, something to snuggle with during naptime. These items will remain in your child’s cubby and used only during nap and movie times. The parent(s) must provide diaper ointment and/or wipes, disposable diapers and training pants. No outside toys are ever permitted.
Supplies
Parents are responsible for supplying:
· Bottles
· Diapers & Wipes
· A full change of clothing
All personal belongings should be marked with child's name. It is not necessary to bring eating utensils, cups or dishes, or formula as they will be supplied.
Child Abuse/Neglect
It is law and also the responsibility as a childcare provider to report any and all abuse or neglect performed on a child. As a teacher, I cannot turn my head on a child that has been abused or neglected. Therefore, Being a licensed facility on base we are mandated reporters of suspected child abuse and by Illinois law required to report any possible developmental delays for further screening.
Child Illness
Under no circumstances should you bring your child to care sick (fever of 100°f or higher, vomiting, diarrhea not contained in a diaper, sore throat, continuous coughing, runny nose other than clear, draining eyes or ears, unexplained rash, lice, etc.) If you are not sure your child is well enough to attend childcare call and discuss it with me.
Masking your child’s symptoms with over-the-counter medications and bringing them to care anyway is not allowed and could be cause for immediate termination. It is also inconsiderate to all families involved. A sick child should be allowed to recuperate fully at home after an illness so that the other children and the provider do not risk unnecessary exposure. If you are unable to stay home with your sick child it will be necessary for you to make arrangements at your own expense. If your child is out ill regular fees still apply.
Your child may be brought to care if they have a common cold (which means a slight cough, clear runny nose, sneezing); however I will call you if your child is just plain miserable (whining, crying, repeatedly asking for you). Your child should not attend if they are not feeling well enough to participate in our daily activities (i.e. a child wanting to sleep all day, lay on the couch and watch TV etc.)
The Health Department regulations prohibit the admittance of any child into a family childcare home that exhibits any of the following symptoms:
· Fever (100°f or higher) – child needs to be fever free for 24 hours without the aid of medication
· Diarrhea – child must be symptom free for 24 hours without the aid of medication
· Vomiting – child must be symptom free for 24 hours without the aid of medication
· Runny nose with colored discharge –check with doctor
· Rash – check with doctor
· Discharge from eyes or ears
· Lice – child needs to be treated and nits removed before return
· Communicable diseases – chicken pox, measles, mumps, conjunctivitis (pink eye), influenza etc. The child may return when the incubation and contagious period is passed and the child is well enough to resume normal childcare activities.
Paradise Falls has the right to refuse to care for a sick child. If your child develops any of the above symptoms while under care of Paradise Falls, you or your alternate will be required to pick up your child immediately. If the child is not picked up within an hour of my calling a $5.00 for every 15 minutes or portion thereof charge may be assessed. lf a parent needs to pick up a child that has been dropped off for care too ill to participate in the day the child will also be required to stay at home the following day. Your child may return to care 24 hours AFTER symptoms of illness end. Which means if your child is sent home with a fever, diarrhea, or vomiting they cannot return until they have been symptom free for 24 hours without the aid of medications. Your provider is responsible for the health and well being of many children so she will closely follow health department regulations when it comes to illness. We understand and respect your need to be at work, but your cooperation is extremely important on this.
Medication
If your child is on antibiotics he/she continues to be contagious for 24 hours after the first dose of medication and cannot return to childcare until this time period has passed.
Childcare regulations prohibit me from giving your child medication of any kind unless you have filled out and signed Permission to Administer Form, (AF Form 1055). All medication must be in the original, labeled container. This includes Tylenol and cough syrup. Blank permission to administer medication forms are kept in your family connection folder.
Medical Emergencies
Minor bumps and scrapes are inevitable, but I make every effort to keep your children safe through supervision and childproofing. Minor injuries will receive appropriate first aid, and if an emergency injury or illness occurs, you will be contacted immediately. If I am unable contact either parent, I will call the emergency contact numbers supplied to me to make the medical decisions for the child.
Immunizations
All children are required to have a photocopy of their current and up to date shot records.
Parents are required to keep their children’s shots up to date.
Nap/Quiet Time
All children will be required to lie down for a nap/quiet time each day. We will not force your child to sleep but he/she must lie down quietly or participate in quiet activities and the quiet table.. This is my “ break” during the day, my time to re-charge, plan programming and do paperwork.
Guidance/Discipline Policy
While under our care only positive encouragement is enforced. Children will NOT be subject to spanking, hitting, kicking, restraint, or to, verbal, emotional, or physical punishment. Our facility believes the most effective ways of enforcing positive behaviors are: Praise, Respect, Re-Direction, and Positive Re-Enforcement. We do not play “REF”; I use strategies to engage children in their own problem solving. During conflict it is important for children to feel respected, secure, loved, important and special. They need to know that their teacher is always available to listen and help, not to judge. The teacher’s goal is to coach the children so they can negotiate, compromise, brainstorm and work it out together. We do not believe in “adult initiated” time outs; unfortunately when used punitively it takes away from a valuable teaching experience. Your child will only be placed in time out if his/her teacher feels that they are a threat to the safety and well being of themselves or others.
If something of a more serious nature or a persistent behavior should occur that is of concern to me or a threat to the safety of others, your child’s teacher will need to discuss it with you so that you both can jointly decide on a course of action that is followed at home and in care. The time out method is only used as a last resort and only to allow the child to regroup. One minute per age is the guideline. It is the parents responsibly to work together with the provider to find ulterior solutions to your child’s behavior if the redirection or timeout methods are not working. If the problem cannot be resolved arrangements must be made for the child to receive care elsewhere.
Open Door Policy
While your child is under the care of Paradise Falls, you can always be assured that the door is open to you. Open Door does not mean that we keep our doors unlocked. For the safety of the children and myself doors are kept locked except for scheduled drop off and pick up times. Please feel free to drop in and check on your child, however, keep in mind a child adjusting to a new surrounding will want to leave with you if you pop in for a visit. Please take into consideration our schedule when dropping in or calling, and remember that visitors usually cause children to react in an excited manner that does not normally occur when your child is alone with the provider. Also, keep in mind there may be times when it is not possible for the provider to run to the phone (diaper changing, bottle feeding, etc.) If the phone goes unanswered, please do not become alarmed, simply leave me a voice mail and I will call you as soon as I am able.
Parent Conferences
Parent conferences will be held annually. I will hand out a survey prior to conferences for you to complete about the care being provided in my home. Parents are welcome to visit any time during business hours.
IDEAS!
Paradise Falls Daycare welcomes any ideas that you may have for fun activities or crafts!!! I teach the children creativity, problem solving, and pride in their skills. Sometimes these values get messy. Some days we will be painting, so please send your child in appropriate clothing. Please dress your child for real success. Their “work” here is play! If there is an occasion that calls for special clothing please bring this clothing in an extra bag and I will help your child change before you arrive for pickup. Provider is not responsible for your child’s clothing or personal items brought into childcare home. I will let you know when I need more supplies for your child.
Termination/Introduction Period
The first two weeks of childcare are to be an adjustment period for child and provider. It is the responsibility of your provider to let the parent know if the child seems unhappy or the arrangement is unsatisfactory for any other reason. It is the parent’s responsibility to do the same. The parent or provider can terminate the contract anytime during the adjustment period in writing.
I will terminate our childcare arrangements immediately for any of the following reasons (but not solely limited to):
· Failure to comply with the policies set forth in this book.
· Failure to comply with the contract.
· Persistent destructive or hurtful behavior from child
· Non-Payment of childcare fees or late and/or recurring late payment of fees.
· Failure to show up to daycare for 5 days in a row without any communication.
· Failure to complete required forms.
· Blatant disrespect towards provider or provider’s family.
· If or when parents knowingly bring their child ill
If you decide to find another childcare arrangement for your child Paradise Falls requires two weeks paid notice and a termination contract that has been signed and dated. This is required to ensure that there are no misunderstandings as to when the two weeks begins or ends.
Travel/ Field Trips
Children in my care may occasionally go on outings or field trips, which may include car rides and walks. There will be many visits to parks on base.

The primary goal of our program is the happiness and well being of your child. We know that from time to time problems may arise and we ask that any concerns or problems be brought up immediately. Keeping an open dialogue with your provider gives her the opportunity to care for your child in the most productive and caring way possible. Communication is very important. When a new family is accepted into Paradise we like to be sure that you, as a parent, can share openly any concerns or questions that may arise. we are a team raising your child. If we can work together then your child can feel secure in knowing they have two families who love them very much. I grow to love each child and I am always glad to have a chance to be a part of his or her lives. It is important that there is a similar childcare philosophy between us.
